Best for P-2-P Trading and Marketplaces: No Backend Ships This out of the Box (Plan to Build)
Player-to-player trading, letting one player give or sell an item to another, and player-driven marketplaces are what some games are built around, and this is the sub-case where the honest answer is uncomfortable: no game backend here offers it as a complete, finished product, and the strongest commerce platform on this page actually removed it. So if trading is core to your game, plan to build it, and choose a backend for how well it supports that build rather than for a feature none of them fully ship.
The telling detail is PlayFab: its Economy v1 had a native trading API with atomic two-way item swaps, and Economy v2 removed it, so player-to-player trading now requires custom orchestration with Azure Functions, the same is true of drop tables and limited-supply items. That's not a knock on PlayFab specifically; it's a signal that safe trading (atomic, exploit-resistant, fraud-aware) is hard enough that platforms are cautious about shipping it generically. Two kinds of team need this: those who want an economy layer at no cost, and those who need to own and customize the economy code outright. This is a segment where AccelByte is not the answer, and it's worth stating: its trial is free up to 30 concurrent players, but it's a managed commercial platform, not a free-forever or self-hostable economy.

This is the segment where the honest answer is that you're asking the wrong category. Where Epic Online Services and LootLocker Fit
Two platforms deserve a specific placement for economy and commerce, because both are commonly considered here and one of them genuinely isn't a commerce platform at all.
