AccelByte Multiplayer Servers (AMS) is AccelByte’s server management add-on for AccelByte Gaming Services (AGS) that allows customers to manage multiple regions and providers through a single pane of glass, ensuring their game runs on the lowest-latency servers worldwide at the most cost-effective rate. AccelByte customers like AEXLAB and Genun Games already use AMS to support hundreds of thousands of players globally while delivering an exceptional player experience, regardless of location.
AMS’s multi-provider approach—historically including both cloud (AWS) and bare metal (servers.com) options—has ensured customers could mix and match providers to create a setup perfectly tailored to their needs. This flexibility has been a core tenet of the product since launch.
Today, we’re excited to announce that we’re expanding these options further with the addition of Microsoft Azure as our newest virtual machine (VM) provider. This expansion reinforces AccelByte’s commitment to offering a broad spectrum of server provider choices, empowering game developers to deploy, manage, and scale their multiplayer servers with even greater flexibility and performance.
Game developers need server solutions that align with their unique performance and scalability requirements. With AMS’s integration of Microsoft Azure, developers now have access to an even more diverse selection of VM families, ensuring they can fine-tune their infrastructure based on workload needs, player demand, and regional distribution. Whether building for high-intensity simulations or optimizing for memory-heavy workloads, AMS provides the right tools to support seamless and efficient game server management.
AMS’s Microsoft Azure offering includes four distinct VM families, each tailored to different workload demands:
These VM families are currently available in the following regions:
Additional regions will be added in the future.
With the addition of Microsoft Azure, AMS enhances its multi-cloud + bare metal strategy, giving game developers the freedom to deploy and scale their fleets seamlessly across multiple providers, including AWS. Multi-cloud support enables studios to build distributed infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, regional redundancy, and the ability to adapt dynamically to changing player traffic without incurring downtime.
By integrating Microsoft Azure, AMS provides greater accessibility to different cloud architectures, helping developers create resilient game server ecosystems without vendor lock-in. This expanded choice allows for better alignment with studio preferences, ensuring that every deployment can be customized for optimal game performance and player experience.
