BELLEVUE, WA — AUGUST XX, 2026
AccelByte today announces a founding partnership with Xsolla to bring AccelByte Gaming Services (AGS) into Xsolla’s offering for game developers. Through the partnership, Xsolla will offer participating studios backend services powered by AGS alongside its global payments, monetization, and developer services. Xsolla has opened a closed testing program for the combined solution, and developers can now apply for early access.
Studios building live games across PC, mobile, console, and web often manage player accounts, persistence, multiplayer features, commerce, and global transactions across separate platforms. Connecting and operating those systems adds engineering work, introduces operational complexity, and can delay launch. By adding fully managed backend services to Xsolla’s offering, we can support more of the game-development lifecycle within its ecosystem, from establishing core online systems to launching and operating a live game.
AccelByte Gaming Services (AGS) is a fully managed, modular backend platform for online and multiplayer games. Depending on the needs of their title, developers can use services including identity and access, cloud save, achievements, leaderboards, store and catalog, wallets, social features, chat, parties and presence, matchmaking, and sessions. AGS also provides built-in game analytics and operational utilities that help teams understand player activity, manage configurations, monitor platform behavior, and troubleshoot issues.
Developers can integrate and operate AGS through its Admin Portal, APIs, and game SDKs. AccelByte’s newer developer tools also include the AGS CLI for scripting and automating backend operations, as well as MCP tooling that gives compatible AI coding assistants structured access to current AGS APIs, schemas, and operations. These capabilities are designed to help teams work with AGS through environments and workflows they already use.
During the closed testing period, participating studios will help Xsolla and AccelByte companies validate:
- An integrated Xsolla offering: Developers will access AGS-powered backend capabilities alongside Xsolla’s existing payment, subscription, monetization, and identity services through an offering delivered by Xsolla.
- A developer-led implementation: Test partners actively building and operating live games will help shape the feature set, integration experience, and modular implementation options.
- Reduced integration and operational overhead: The combined solution is designed to help studios stand up and operate live game services without building and maintaining every backend and payment component independently.
- Flexible backend capabilities: Developers will be able to use services for player accounts, persistent game data, engagement, commerce, social systems, and multiplayer based on the requirements of their games.
- Global monetization coverage: Participating studios will be able to use Xsolla’s global commerce platform, which supports more than 1,000 payment methods across over 200 geographies.
“We’re building this backend and game services integration with AccelByte by listening to developers who use both of our platforms,” said Chris Hewish, President of Xsolla. “Our first test partners will help us prove that a studio can stand up backend services and global payments together, without staffing separate teams for each, and get to market faster as a result.”
“AccelByte’s comprehensive and scalable platform and developer toolset are now more accessible and easier for developers to integrate and operate,” said Junaili Lie, CEO and Technical Director at AccelByte. “We’re excited to partner with Xsolla, which shares our belief in making powerful technology accessible to studios of every size. By combining our technology and expertise, we can help studios launch faster, operate smarter, and reach players globally.”
The closed testing program is limited to a small group of studios ahead of a broader rollout. Developers can meet the AccelByte and Xsolla teams at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany (schedule a meeting here).
