AccelByte 2024 Year in Review

accelbyte 2024 year in review

2024 was a thrilling reminder of just how dynamic the gaming industry can be—and how deeply rewarding it is to see resilience and creativity pay off.

The gaming industry has always been an ever-evolving landscape, full of opportunities, innovation, and, at times, significant challenges. 2024 was no exception. It served as a testament to the resilience of game developers and the boundless creativity that fuels this industry. While the first half of the year was fraught with difficulties, with many studios facing tough decisions, the latter half brought a resurgence of optimism, culminating in the release of some truly incredible games.

As we step into 2025, we are both excited and proud of the role AccelByte has played in supporting game developers through these highs and lows.

Milestones That Inspire Us

Reflecting on the past year, a few key achievements stand out that underscore our impact in the industry:

  • Player Engagement: Through our customers' games, AccelByte has facilitated 11.5 million net new players, contributing to an impressive 16.9 million total game sessions served. These numbers highlight not only the resilience of the industry but also the continuous growth of player communities around the world.
  • Development Efficiency: Game development is a complex and iterative process, and we are thrilled to have played a role in making it smoother. In 2024, we saw 12.5 petabytes of builds distributed via the AccelByte Development Tool Kit, along with 118,000 crash reports uploaded. This has saved countless hours for developers, allowing them to focus more on refining their games and less on logistical hurdles.
  • Supporting Successful Game Launches: We were honored to support the launch of more than 8+ amazing titles in 2024, working closely with studios to ensure seamless releases. Some of the standout games we helped bring to market include:

Lessons Learned from Concord's Launch

One of the largest launches we supported in 2024 was Firewalk’s Concord. While the title did not meet all player expectations, it provided invaluable insights into scaling multiplayer experiences. In particular, we fine-tuned our matchmaking systems to support over 1 million concurrent players, while also ensuring compliance with PlayStation’s rigorous load testing and security requirements. These learnings are now deeply integrated into how we approach every new game launch, helping us deliver even better support for developers moving forward.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As we embark on a new year, we are filled with excitement about what’s ahead. The gaming industry continues to push boundaries, and we remain committed to empowering developers with the tools and services they need to bring their visions to life.

We look forward to another year of incredible game launches, continued collaboration with talented studios, and ongoing innovation in game development technology.
